Tobago has recorded the fourth murder for 2015, the second one for the week in the same village.

Dead is 46-year-old Kenvern Joefield of Nursery School Trace, Lambeau.

According to reports, the incident occurred around 1 am yesterday.

In an interview with the T&T Guardian, ACP Tobago Garfield Moore said Joefield was shot multiple times about the body.

“The police were responding to a report from the command centre that there was a shooting in Lambeau, as they were done responding they went to the house of one Kenvern Joefield where he was seen lying in the house in a pool of blood and he appeared to be dead. He was shot multiple times.

Police said he lived with his elderly father. “The father cannot give us any information, all he knows there were gun shots and he saw his son in the living-room area and he just collapsed and fell on the ground.”

Police also revealed that Joefield was a deportee from Canada and was known to them.

Villagers said they were alerted by the loud noise, but thought it was thunder or fire crackers.

Joefield’s 89-year-old father Dickens Joefield was at home at the time, but was unhurt.

CCTV footage was also retrieved from the scene.

Villagers said the elder Joefield and his son were troublesome neighbours as they were involved in several litigations over ongoing land disputes with neighbours.

District Medical Officer Dr Clinker ordered the body removed to the Scarborough Hospital Mortuary.

Two weeks ago, Joefield’s home was firebombed by masked men causing extensive damage to the house amounting to $60,000.

Joefield was also highlighted in the media in 2014 when he accused police officers of harassment and entering his premises illegally.

Tobago Homicide Bureau is continuing investigations.
