A retired fire officer was found beaten to death at his home at Sandpiper Avenue, La Horquetta, yesterday.
Police had initially thought 62-year-old Martin Joseph died of natural causes but an autopsy done at the Forensic Science Centre, St James, stated he died of blunt force trauma to the head.
According to police, a female relative tried contacting Joseph on his cellphone but received no answer.
When she went to his home she found him around 9 am dead on his bed.
Police believe Joseph was robbed as pieces of jewelry and other valuables were missing from his home.
According to Homicide Bureau his killing has taken the murder toll to 356 for the year with 58 of those murders being detected compared to 342 last year with 63 of them being detected. —Jensen La Vende
