Police recovered four illegal firearms and a quantity of ammunition during anti-crime exercises in San Juan, Claxton Bay and Point Fortin between last Friday and Saturday.
Officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force (NEDTF) went to Boundary Road in San Juan where they found a Beretta pistol and six rounds of .38 calibre ammunition in an empty lot.
In a separate exercise, police officers went to Walker Street, Egypt Village, Point Fortin where they found a loaded 9mm pistol hidden between the roots of a tree.
Central Division police recovered the two other guns in Claxton Bay. A Taurus revolver and 99 rounds of 9mm ammunition were recovered in a track off Lodge Road on Friday.
The following day, the officers searched an abandoned house at Hill Top Avenue, where they found Zastava AK-47 assault rifle hidden in a refrigerator.
No one was arrested in connection with any of the finds.
