One man is in hospital nursing a gunshot wound and the other in in police custody after police foiled a daylight robbery in Palmyra yesterday.
According to reports around 5 pm yesterday Southern Division police responded to reports of a robbery in progress at the Chocolate Jai Jai Supermarket, in Palmyra Village, San Fernando.
Two men, one armed with a gun and the other with a knife entered the supermarket and robbed the owner and five customers of an undisclosed amount of cash, jewelry, cell phones and other valuables.
When Rapid Response officers Boodlal, Ramkhlewan and Sadahn arrived on the scene the men were seen leaving the building.
They confronted the bandits who pulled out weapons. One officer shot one of the robbers in the hand, causing him to drop the gun.
