The woman found dead in the Usine Ste Madeline pond yesterday morning has been identified as Cheryl Mohammed.
Mohammed, 55, lived at Peter Street, La Romaine.
Her body was identified by relatives last night at the Forensics Sciences Centre in St James.
Around 7am yesterday, Mohammed's body was found floating facedown in the pond by OAS workmen who went to refill a water truck.
At the time, there was no identification on her body or nearby.
T&T Guardian spoke to Mohammed’s daughter Lauren Lawrence, 22, at the family’s home this morning.
"I saw her before I left for work on Wednesday, but she didn't say anything or act strangely," said Lawrence. "When I got home that night she was not there and Thursday morning I alerted my sister about it."
However, Mohammed sister Susan sad the family is questioning how Mohammed got to the pond in the first place.
"We have no idea how she got there. She is not someone to go far from home, she usually stays home with her children and grandchildren."
She said to her knowledge her mother was not depressed. The family is awaiting the results of her autopsy which is being done today at Forensics Science Centre, St James.
