A 30-year-old woman was killed in a brutal attack by a masked gunman who slit her throat after invading her Chaguanas home.

The dead woman has been identified as Apphia Quamina. Her roommate Josanne Allen, 27, and Allen’s boyfriend Christopher Heerah were injured in the incident.

The Sunday Guardian yesterday visited the Gentian Park, Edinburgh South home were the incident took place but relatives were too distraught to speak.

According to police reports, Quamina, Allen and Heerah were all in the bedroom of the house at around midnight when the attack occurred. The front door to the apartment was open because Quamina was doing laundry.

While the trio were in the bedroom a man dressed in a black jersey with a white bandana over his face and armed with a firearm entered the bedroom and demanded to know the whereabouts of Allen’s brother.

The gunman became aggravated and ordered Heerah to tie up both Allen and Quamina. He then began to beat Heerah.

Allen retreated to a corner of the room and placed a pillow over her face until the assault on Heerah was over. After the melee ended Allen went over to Heerah and found him beaten, bloody and unconscious.

The couple then found Quamina lying on the bed vomiting blood with a slash wound on her face and another on her neck.

Quamina was rushed to the Chaguanas Health Facility but died at the health facility. The body was removed to the San Fernando Mortuary and an autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.

First responders PCs Stewart and Serries went to the Chaguanas Health Facility and o recorded the initial information, while officers from the Homicide Bureau Region III, Chaguanas CID and Central Division crime scene investigators visited the scene. Investigations are continuing.
