Highway Patrol Branch police officer Adrian Mohammed and Point Lisas port worker Anthony La Foucade were granted a total of $200,000 bail when they appeared in court yesterday charged with having sex with two underaged girls.
Mohammed, 24, and La Foucade, 22, were not called upon to plead when they appeared before Deputy Chief Magistrate Mark Wellington in the San Fernando Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
According to the charges, on August 5, Mohammed allegedly picked up the two girls—a 16-year-old and a 14-year-old—at Claxton Bay.
The men are charged under the Children Act of 2014 with having sex with the two girls who are children. They are also charged with sexually molesting a child under the age of 16.
Mohammed was slapped with two additional charges of misbehaviour in public office, failing to act during a commission of a criminal offence.
Both men were represented by attorney Subhas Panday.
Panday applied for bail for them, telling the court La Foucade lives in Claxton Bay and is permanently employed with the Port of Point Lisas.
Mohammed lives at Bronte Village with his parents.
Neither men have any pending or previous matters before the court.
Wellington granted La Foucade $90,000 bail to be approved by a clerk of the peace. Mohammed was placed on $110,000 bail, also to be approved.
As a condition of their bail, both men were ordered to stay away from the victims.
The matter was adjourned to September 8.
