A 56-year-old hunter of Matura, who left his home on Boxing Day in company with two dogs to hunt in the Matura Forest, is missing.
Dennis Mitchell, 56, who left his home on December 26 telling his family that he was going to hunt, has not been seen since, despite efforts to find him by hunters, villagers and members of the protective services.
Relatives said neither of the two dogs with which he left home could be found. The dogs would normally return home after hunting,
Joint search efforts carried out by Eastern police and soldiers in the Matura Forest have proved futile.
The worried Matura family said it was six days since Mitchell went missing.
A party of police officers, led by ASP Joseph and including Ag Insp Lutchman, Sgts Mickey Williams and Ramkissoon, Cpls Moses and Osouna, PCs Seenath Kheerai and Blake, and WPC Hamid, accompanied hunters and relatives into the Matura Forest where they searched for the missing man and his dogs.
Shera Mitchell, a relative of Mitchell, reported that he suffered from epilepsy.
Police said they have not given up the search.
