Themes that explore several issues facing the country including fatherhood and proper role models for the youth among others will all be showcased by Carvalho Theatre, a fresh, dynamic theatre for mature audiences by veteran actor, producer and writer Fareid Carvalho and his production team.

Carvalho is bringing seven of T&T’s most brilliant and fearless actors and actresses together to take a bold and audacious approach to reshape local mature theatre.

After specialising in children’s theatre for some 17 years, Carvalho is making a comeback to the adult theatre world, bringing his own flare and joie de vivre to the industry with the The Right Kind of Wrong.

The production, Carvalho explained, is a comical farce which promotes positives of a father and the male figure in a household.

He bemoaned the fact that too many young men have either gone astray or have fallen by the gun.

“It’s really heartbreaking to witness the many social ills facing our country. I think it’s important to celebrate fathers and good male figures who are dedicated to children and by extension making T&T a better place,” Carvalho said.

Carvalho, who initially began his journey in adult theatre and then went on to focus on children’s productions, says his comeback to adult theatre is also a means of giving back to the T&T.

His messages are much needed especially when the country is grappling with the many social ills like a spiralling crime rate, domestic violence and vicious murders many of which have involved young men.

The Right Kind of Wrong will be out in time for Father’s Day, running from June 14 to June 17, at the Central Bank Auditorium and will include a blockbuster cast with the likes of Cecilia Salazar and Dese Simon.

The official launch on June 14 will be a gala affair.

Carvalho Theatre is also geared towards igniting public conversations inspired by comical and fabulous characters and also help citizens explore where T&T is heading as a nation.

“There are also serious messages like who we are and where we came from,” Carvalho added.

But he is also using adult theatre to develop young upcoming actors by offering job opportunities and create platforms for rising starts to network and engage seasoned members of the theatre fraternity.

“Carvalho productions have dominated children’s theatre and although I continue in this vein I wanted to give myself another challenge....hence adult theatre and Carvalho Theatre.

“If we as theatre producers and script writers could actually reinforce the positives of a father figure in the household that will be great. My form of giving back to the community is to promote fathers and to give young people a chance, to showcase their talent,” Carvalho said.

Carvalho who praised his grandfather Manuel for being instrumental in his life urged young men not to fall into social ills and use theatre as a means of positively shaping their lives.
