Two weeks after filing a no-confidence motion against Works and Transport Minister Rohan Sinanan for a collapsed seabridge, Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar is training her guns on National Security Minister Edmund Dillon for his failure to address the sky-rocketing murder and crime rates.

She said the United National Congress will be filing a motion against Dillon for his inaction to deal with crime and the killing spree.

At the UNC’s Monday Night Forum meeting at Caura, Persad-Bissessar told party supporters that there was no question that the People’s National Movement, led by Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley had taken T&T into a “crisis state” with the high murder, crime and unemployment rates.

She said citizens were now facing a new type of crime—home invasion—where innocent people were losing their lives at the hands of the criminal elements. “But in the meantime, we must hold the Minister of National Security to account.”

Last month, the UNC filed a similar motion in the House against Sinanan which was debated and failed.
