Radio 90.5 FM partners with Zee TV

Local radio station 90.5 FM has partnered India’s Zee TV to broadcast this year’s Divali Nagar celebrations which began on Sunday and ends on November 9.

Kiran Maharaj, managing director, of the radio station said in a media statement that Zee TV had approached Radio 90.5 ,” to play this role as it made its footprint in the Caribbean with Zee TV family.”

“We chose Divali Nagar as the opportunity to do this as we felt Divali symbolises a time of renewal and enlightenment and it is also a positive way to celebrate a new beginning,” he said.

Unmesh Khadilar, chief technical officer of Zee TV Americas, said that it decided to make Zee TV’s library of 210K hours of broadcast content available to viewers in T&T. 

“We wanted to do so with an unified platform that was easy to navigate and offered unmatched streaming quality.” he added.

While, Sameer Targe, business head of the organisation, said that Zee TV’s vision was to build something sustainable and economical that would accommodate the changing viewing habit of consumers in T&T.

“Zee TV’s philosophy to evolve with the times and it has many firsts to its name, including being the first South Asian cable network to be available in the Caribbean. Building a streaming video platform is a move that is consistent with our motto,” he said.

Zee TV and Radio 90.5 are also sponsors of the National Council of Indian Culture’s (NCIC) annual Divali Nagar Queen Show where contestants from six countries will vie for the title.

One of the highlights of Zee TV’s input will be the presence on stage of Zee TV stars—Jamai Rajas, Surbhi Jyoti and Leena Jumani.

Surujdeo Mangaroo, public relations officer, NCIC said that,”the entire Divali Nagar plant is fully operational for this year’s presentation.”

He also announced that the decision of the Government to give the NCIC $1.5 million as a grant to help defray costs was accepted although the annual Divali Nagar costs approximately $5 million.
