Sally Sammy is seeking justice after her seven-year-old son was beaten by a bully at a school in south Trinidad.
The 32-year-old Tabaquite woman said she was disappointed after the bully was only suspended for three days.
Her son, Bryan Francis, a Standard One student, remained warded at the San Fernando Hospital up to late yesterday evening.
She said her son complained of pains in his stomach and refused to attend classes.
In a telephone interview, Sammy said, “I want justice for my child. For the past year he was beaten up and he in the hospital. I ain’t taking that so easy. I want justice for my child.â€
Sammy said her son did not want to attend classes last week so she accompanied him to the school.
“The children at the school told me he was afraid because the boy does beat him and I realise every week and the children tell me he does get beat up everyday,†she said.
Sammy said she was told the boy in question was suspended for three days.
Sammy said a report was made to the Princes Town Police Station and the Child's Protective Unit was investigating.
Attempts to contact Education Minister Anthony Garcia proved futile. When contacted officials at the Children’s Authority did not respond to questions.
