This holiday season, Caribbean Cinemas will open the first 4DX auditorium in the English-speaking Caribbean, which will be located at SouthPark Cinemas in San Fernando.
The opening will be with the worldwide premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi on December 14.
In a release from Caribbean Cinemas on Friday, it said amplifying the experience from watching a movie to almost being in it, the new state-of-the-art auditorium will feature the latest Hollywood releases.
Considered to be one of the biggest innovations in cinematic technology: 4DX enhances the on-screen visuals of action-packed blockbusters, enabling a completely immersive event that transcends the traditional cinema experience through special effects including motion-activated seats, wind, fog, rain, lighting, vibrations and scents.
The result is that 4DX, going beyond 3D, adds visual, aural, olfactory and tactile dimensions to the film-viewing experience.
4DX is a concept created by the company CJ 4DPLEX from South Korea and only 400 cinemas around the world have this kind of auditorium, including nine in the US and one in Canada. Caribbean Cinemas has a total of 492 screens all over the Caribbean and the 4DX screen at SouthPark Cinemas will have the capacity for 108 seats.
