Burglars using a blow-torch broke into the Lange Park, Chaguanas, home of the President of the Used-Car Dealers Association Visham Babwah on Monday and carted away an undisclosed sum of cash and jewellery.
Babwah said the burglars entered through the back door after cutting away part of his burglar-proof gate without tripping off his security alerts.
He said when his wife returned home around 3 pm she noticed her jewellery missing. The house was not ransacked and a large sum of money was also gone.
He urged members of the public to be on the lookout for people trying to sell precious jewels at cheap prices.
One of the missing jewels, he said, was valued at around $100,000.
