A 20-year-old San Juan man will make his second court appearance on his 21 birthday after appearing in court yesterday charged with raping a 67-year-old nurse at the workplace.
Nicholas Nelson, of Upper Bushe Street, San Juan, appeared before Magistrate Maureen Baboolal-Gafoor.
Nelson, a security guard with SWAT, was granted $120,000 bail and ordered to stay 100 feet from the victim and not contact her directly or indirectly.
He will re-appear in court on November 16
Nelson told the magistrate through his attorney Keith Scotland he had been employed for the past 18 months as a security guard.
Scotland said he spoke with the security company and was assured Nelson would not be working at the same compound with the victim after the magistrate was told the incident happened on the compound where both worked.
It is alleged that Nelson raped the nurse on October 14 at the St James Health Facility.
He was arrested at the compound moments later by WPC’s Vanessa Phillips and Kerr of the St James Police Station. Phillips laid the charges.
