A donation of about $100,000 will be given to the Cyril Ross Nursery, a non-profit organisation specially chosen by Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley, from funds raised during the recent International Food Festival at the Radisson Hotel in Port-of-Spain. The festival, which was held under the patronage of the Prime Minister, was hosted by the Consular Corps of T&T.
Rowley’s charity of choice, the Cyril Ross Nursery, was announced on the gala night, which was well attended by scores of people, including current and former government ministers, business people and local chefs.
The Cyril Ross Nursery, which is owned and operated by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, houses more 30 children and is responsible for the medical management of thirty other children living with their parents and or guardians in different parts of T&T.
Honorary consulate for Lebanon and Dean of Consular Corps, Amer Haidar told the T&T Guardian the event was a success and he was happy to see a much larger turnout than for the three previous events.
The food festival featured the diverse cuisine of corps' member countries. Past proceeds have been donated to various charities including The Children's Life Fund, The Renal and Dialysis Unit at Eric Williams Complex, The Animal Welfare Network, The Down Syndrome Family Network, The Autistic Society of T&T, The Friends of Tobago AIDS Society, The Wildlife Orphanage and Rehabilitation Centre.
