Chaguanas Mayor Gopaul Boodhan is calling for more police patrols around schools in the busy Central borough. Boodhan made the call yesterday ahead of the new start of the school year today.
While he made the call for more patrols, Boodhan said they were more needed in the morning and after school, especially outside secondary institutions.
“We would like to see more police after hours outside the secondary schools in the area where students congregate for transport, to ensure that they do not get involved in any untoward activity or fall prey to unsavoury characters such as gang members. We are also calling on the authorities to have more traffic wardens around schools at peak hours to ensure that congestion does not become intolerable,” he said.
