A $10,000 reward has been offered for any information leading to finding missing Westmoorings woman Cristal Tywang.
Tywang, 34, was last seen around 7 am as she walked out of her house on September 20.
Concerned that something sinister had befallen Tywang, family members yesterday appealed to members of the public for help to locate her.
During a brief telephone interview, Tywang’s mother, Jennifer, said it was highly unusual for her daughter to be away from home for so long.
Revealing that Tywang would sometimes spend the night away from home, Jennifer indicated that she would always notify the family about her whereabouts.
However, she said on the day Tywang went missing the friends she had been liming with, intervened and took away her car keys because they felt she was not coherent enough to get behind the wheel of a car, hence, her departure on foot.
Jennifer yesterday admitted that Cristal might have been intoxicated when she walked out of the house. When checks throughout the neighbourhood, friends houses and hospitals turned up empty-handed, Jennifer said they became alarmed.
A missing person’s report was filed at the Four Roads Police Station but up to yesterday officers had no further information. They indicated the matter had since been referred to the Anti-Kidnapping Squad for investigation.
Revealing that the family was “going through a really hard time right now,” Jennifer urgently appealed for help to find her daughter. Tywang has been described as five feet, six inches tall, of slim build, with bleached blond hair.
Contacted yesterday, the owner of Mode Alive, Gary Aboud confirmed he had offered the financial reward for information regarding Tywang’s whereabouts.
Stating that he did not personally know the family, Aboud said he was “moved” by an email he received yesterday morning and decided to step up as that could happen to anyone’s “mother, daughter, wife or sister.”
Questioned about the increase in the disappearances of women within recent times, the TTPS’s Public Information Officer, ASP Michael Pierre assured that officers were working assiduously to solve all the cases. Speaking during the weekly police briefing yesterday, Pierre said they were “very concerned” about the reports of the missing women. Among those who remain missing are Costaatt lecturer Glenda Charles-Harris who was last seen on July 27 as she left her Diego Martin home and business woman Carolyn Katwaroo, who was last seen on September 11, as she left her home at Palmiste.
Urging the public to come forward with any information regarding the missing women, Pierre said greater partnership was needed between the police and the wider society to help solve some of the crimes which remained outstanding.
Anyone with information can contact Cpl Campbell at the Four Roads Police Station to report any details about the whereabouts of Cristal Tywang at 637-3860 or Crime Stoppers t 800-TIPS or 999.
