Christine “Twiggy” Livia yesterday called on the People’s National Movement (PNM) to put their house in order following her suspension from the party.
She also insisted that she would not sever ties with former housing minister Dr Roodal Moonilal, who gave her a job at the HDC.
“I don’t have no problem with the PNM. PNM has to put their house in order and take care of poor people.
“The whole thing about it. Twiggy don’t like how PNM treat Laventille people. Laventille people is PNM’s backbone.” She said when the PNM was building its base, she did not see men like Franklin Khan and PM Dr Keith Rowley in the frontline.
“I didn’t see all these fellas who want to suspended me from the party. So it ain’t make a difference what they do. Everything Rowley say all you would agree with it. But when Twiggy talk they in disagreement.”
Livia joined the PNM in 1968.
She described herself as a “PNM baby.”She slammed Rowley for donatiing his first salary as PM to the party’s Balisier Fund.
“It have so much of hungry people...hungry children, single parents why he ain’t take care of that?”
Having attended several UNC political meetings leading up to the September 7 general election, Twiggy said no one could tell her where to go or not to go.
“If you have a meeting and you invite me, I will come.”
Though Livia dodged from answering if she was a supporter of the UNC, she admitted “my friend in the UNC is Dr Roodal Moonilal. Jump high, jump low, that is my friend, and they can’t stop me from talking to he or going around he. Who vex that Moonilal gave me a job in the HDC, I don’t know what wrong with them.”
Asked if she was going to resign from the party, Livia responded, “Leave them to go where? All of them members on top of there leaving Christine “Twiggy” Livia right in the PNM.”
