Hassan Ali, the man shot in the head during a shootout between a police officer and two bandits last Friday, died yesterday evening.
Ali, 35, of Farfan Street, La Puerta, Diego Martin, was at Specs Cuts Barbershop last Friday when two thieves stormed in demanding tickets to Chinatown, a party in Chaguaramas that took place on Sunday.
According to relatives of Ali, he died around 7 pm last night. Ali is expected to be buried today under Muslim rites, following his autopsy.
Off duty police inspector Kenneth Morgan, who killed one of the bandits, is still warded in a stable condition at West Shore medical.
The bandit was identified as Shaquille John, 23 of El Dorado, Tunapuna. An autopsy yesterday revealed John died of a single gunshot wound to the chest.
With Ali's death and that of a young woman whose decomposing body was found down a precipice yesterday, the murder toll is now 359.
