A daily routine for a Princes Town mother of two to pick up her children from school turned tragic yesterday after she was killed and her son injured in a head-on collision at M1 Ring Road, Princes Town.
The driver of the delivery truck which collided with Carolyn Mohammed’s car is assisting police with their investigations.
Mohammed, 43, a hairdresser, died on the scene of the accident while her 13-year-old son was taken for medical treatment at the San Fernando General Hospital.
The collision took place around 2.30 pm near the WASA sub station while Mohammed was heading to San Fernando to pick up her 15-year-old son at school.
Hydraulic cutting tools had to be used to retrieve the woman’s body from the mangled wreck.
Mohammed’s brother, Kevin Mohammed, who was on the scene said, “She was going to pick up her son at ASJA Boys’ (College). She just pick up her other son at Princes Town Junior. The road was slightly wet.”
Princes Town police are investigating.
Last November, Namdeo Harriram from Daly Road, New Grant, and his son, Lalchan Harriram, were travelling along the same road when their Toyota Corolla slammed into a ten-tonne truck.
Namdeo and his son were killed in the accident. However, Namdeo’s wife, Havanti Harriram, and their seven-year-old daughter, Tricia Harriram, were injured.
