The board of the Evolving Technologies and Enterprise Development Company Ltd (eTecK) is denying allegations of political interference in its ongoing arbitration proceedings with mega contractor Super Industrial Services Limited (SIS).
Speaking at a press conference at the Hilton Trinidad and Conference yesterday evening, eTecK’s corporate communications manager Carol-Ann McKenzie firmly denied allegations from Independent Liberal Party (ILP) leader, who this week claimed that the board of the company was compelled by a Government minister to settle the legal proceedings with the company.
“For the past 17 months eTecK and its legal team have taken and continue to take all measures to vigorously defend its position in the on-going arbitration proceedings commenced against it by SIS,” MeKenzie said.
“In keeping with our engineering consultants’ valuation and recommendation process, no claim has ever been paid to any contractor that our engineering consultants did not recommend or approve,” she added.
Stating that the State-run organisation was warned not to comment extensively on the matter to avoid tainting the proceedings which come up for hearing in October, McKenzie refused to reveal the details of the contract, from which the legal dispute arose.
“eTecK has always been, and will continue to be, committed to the highest standards of accountability and transparency in the discharge of its duties and fulfillment of its mandate,” McKenzie said.
