Former prime minister Patrick Manning died this morning at the San Fernando General hospital, where he was admitted for treatment earlier this week.
On Friday, Manning was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, a form of cancer, and family members said at the time that he was being prepared to undergo treatment.
He died at 8.15 AM surrounded by his family and loved ones. A post on his public Facebook page confirmed his death, adding that he died peacefully.
Funeral arrengements will be announced shortly.
