Public Administration and Communications Minister Maxie Cuffie says Cabinet is yet to determine which of the four recommendations for CNMG and GISL will be accepted.
He said this at a short and simple ceremony at the National Library yesterday to present letters of appointment to new members of the CNMG/GISL and Government Human Resource Services Company Ltd.
CNMG acting CEO Julian Rogers was among those in the audience.
Cuffie said at a public consultation hosted by CNMG “we got four different options for the (future) direction of CNMG. We did not decide on which of the options we should take,” he added.
Cuffie said the options were forwarded for the consideration of the Cabinet-appointed committee for state enterprises, chaired by Terrence Farrell, for further consideration and recommendation.
He said the committee had met with the CNMG/GISL Board. He said the committee will subsequently make its recommendations to the Cabinet for final determination.
Cuffie said in the interim the companies continue their operations “and they have the budgetary support from the ministry to continue doing just that.”
Asked to elaborate on the four options being considered, Cuffie said he did not want to address that issue as yet. He said those options and the decision on the way forward will be revealed at the same time.
He said Cabinet will take the decision in the final analysis.
An earlier report prepared by former CNMG chairman Helen Drayton recommended that the Government Information Services Ltd (GISL) be dissolved, TV4 be disposed of and all contract work cease.
Deputy chairman of the company, Timothy Affonso, who was acting as chairman since the resignation of Helen Drayton, was confirmed as the new chairman and he also received his letter of appointment.
