Director of Playing Fields in the Division of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports in the Tobago House of Assembly and former coach of Tobago United Football Club, Peter Granville, appeared in the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court on two sex charges yesterday.
He appeared before Magistrate Michelle Maharaj-Brown charged with having sexual Intercourse without consent and grievous sexual assault on a 45-year-old woman from Bon Accord, Tobago.
It is alleged that the incident occurred last Sunday following the People’s National Movement’s Sports and Family Day held at Mt Pleasant. Dressed in a grey pin-striped long-sleeved shirt and black pants, Granville stood emotionless as the charges were read to him.
He was then placed on $150,000 bail with surety through approval by a clerk of the peace. He was also advised not to have any contact with the victim. He was represented by attorney Dawn Palackharrysingh-Wheeler. The matter was also held in-camera.
WPC Tracy Coldeira of the Scarborough CID laid the charges.
The matter was adjourned to June 22.
