A People’s National Movement (PNM) activist preparing for yesterday’s political meeting in San Fernando was attacked and his car damaged by an alleged United National Congress supporter on Saturday.
According to police, Marlon Remy, 35, of Circle Drive, Embacadere, was putting up flags and stickers bearing the PNM symbols around the community shortly after 4 pm when the incident occurred. He told San Fernando police that the suspect, a man he knows from the area, began covering his stickers with UNC stickers and removing the PNM flags.
Remy said when he confronted the man he was attacked and received slight injuries to his head while the windscreen of his car was shattered. Police went in search of the suspect, whom they said was mentally unstable, but Remy later decided not to pursue the matter.
