For the second time in less than a week, police officers of the Port-of-Spain Division have responded to reports of a burning body on the nation’s streets.
Detectives are now working on the theory that setting bodies on fire is a new trend adopted by gangsters.
According to reports, around 3.30 am yesterday, officers of the Criminal Investigation Division’s Port-of-Spain Task Force responded to reports of a commotion at Mango Alley in Laventille.
When the officers arrived they found the body burning at the side of the road.
Up to press time the body remained unidentified.
It was burnt beyond recognition.
This gruesome discovery came less than a week after another burning body was found at Parker Street in Port-of-Spain.
Around 5.30 am on Monday officers found the burning body of a murdered man on Parker Street. The man who still remains unidentified was shot in the head before he was set on fire.
The burning body found yesterday was the second murder in less than eight hours in Laventille.
In an unrelated incident, Kishawn St Louis was shot dead on Friday night.
According to reports, around 8 pm gunshots were heard on Dawn Street in Laventille.
When officers responded to the scene they found the body of a man of African descent on the ground. He died on the scene.
His body had several gunshot wounds. St Louis from Belmont is said to be known to the police.
