Homicide detectives are investigating two murders in Morvant and San Juan which took place yesterday.

In the first incident, 25-year-old Andell “Reddo” Farrell, of John John, Laventille, was shot dead in Morvant.

According to reports, around 12.15 am, residents of Alexis Street, Morvant, reported hearing a volley of gunshots in the community.

Police responded to the scene within minutes but left after they did not find a victim or the gunman.

When investigators returned hours later to question residents, they found Farrell lying in a track with gunshot wounds to his chest and head. He was pronounced dead on the scene by a District Medical Officer (DMO). Police said Farrell was known to be involved in crime.

Meanwhile, police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a murder victim whose body was found in San Juan yesterday morning.

Around 4.30 am, police were patrolling along Ramkissoon Trace, when they saw a man lying in between two cars that were parked at the side of the road.

Upon further investigation, they realised that the man’s hands were bound with a belt, his legs with a piece of rope and his head covered with a plastic bag. The victim, an African male, was dressed only in a pair of black underwear.

The body was taken to the Forensic Science Centre in St James, but an autopsy could not be performed yesterday as he was yet to be identified.

Police said they believe that the victim was killed elsewhere earlier that day with his body being dumped along Ramkissoon Trace. For the year, 144 people have been killed.

Investigations are continuing.
