The 23-year-old pregnant woman suspected in the fatal stabbing of Los Bajos rigger Davidson Roach has been released from custody, police said.

The suspect, a security officer, who was held after Roach’s death on Thursday, was released by the Region III Homicide Bureau around 10 pm Sunday, following instructions from the Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Joan Honore Paul. However, investigators said their probe into the killing continues and whether there is an inquest depends on the DPP’s office.

An autopsy confirmed that Roach, 24, of Oilfield Road, died from a single stab wound to the neck, which he suffered during an argument at his home. Medical staff at the Siparia District Health Facility reported that when he arrived, he was already dead.

Reports stated that he was found bleeding inside his home by a friend around 8.30 pm. It was believed the killing was witnessed by a six-year-old girl. Police learned of the killing when they were contacted by staff at the health facility.

Officers responded and recovered the kitchen knife, and the suspect later surrendered.

Relatives said that prior to his death, Roach received an edited photograph, showing him with knives around his head.
