A prison officer with 10-years service was shot outside his Prizgar Lands home this morning and later died at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.
According to police reports Fitzalbert Victor, 32, was washing his black Nissan Xtrail just after 6am. Police said a gunman jumped the fence and shot Victor seven times before fleeing.
Victor worked at the Port-of-Spain Remand Yard. He was the father of one. Victor died about two hours later while being operated on.
In an unrelated incident police are seeking the public's assistance in identifying the body of a man found yesterday evening in San Juan.
According to police reports around 6.35 pm yesterday officers responded to a call and went to Upper Lloyd Street, Sunshine Avenue, Barataria where they found the man's body.
Police said the man appeared to be mixed race, brown complexion and was wearing a brown 3/4pants and brown vest. He was found lying face down in some bushes with his hands tied behind his back with black and white bandanna. The man also had a wound to his face. Homicide detectives are investigating both matters.
