Police kill wanted man

A Moruga man, wanted for robbery offences, was shot and killed by police last night.
 

The dead man has been identified as Terrence Scipio aka Bolo.
 

According to reports, police  on patrol at Naggie Road, Hindustan, around 5.20 pm when they saw the suspect riding a bicycle.
 

Police said Scipio changed direction and took out a firearm and shot at them before abandoning the bicycle and escaping in the bushes.
 

The officers gave chase and returned fire.
 

Bolo was shot and taken to the Princes Town Health facilitiy  where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
 

Police recovered a revolver, four rounds of ammunition, two spent shells and a bag containing five live rounds in the suspect's pants pocket.

In a separate incident, police said Gopiechand Sookram, 59, may have been bludgeoned to death with a rolling pin at his Cunupia home on Wednesday evening.

A female relative found him dead at his Cunupia home around 3.15 pm.

He was said to be found in a sitting position, with his head bashed in. 

Police believe a bloody rolling pin found close by is the murder weapon. 

 

Sookram was last seen alive by his estranged wife around 5 pm on Tuesday.

 

A post mortem is expected to be done at Forensic Science Centre today.
