The partially burnt body of a man was found this morning near the D’abadie Public Cemetery.
At about 6.40 am the Arima CID was informed of a body near the cemetery.
Police responded and found the body of a man of African descent, clad in a white vest and three quarter pants.
The body appeared to be burnt. Officers also observed what appeared to be a gunshot injury to the right side of the man's head.
The body was taken to the Forensic Science Centre, St James.
ASP Dominic, Insp Maraj, Sgt Ramdeen, PC Edwards and WPC Hurst, among several others, responded.
Investigations are ongoing.
