The family of 20-year-old man who was shot dead in the Cleaver Woods Recreation Park in D’Abadie on Sunday night claim he was executed by his friends.
They made the claim while speaking with reporters shortly after the body of Tyhquina Jack, of Reid Lane, Mausica Lands, D’Abadie, was found slumped on a park bench yesterday.
“He would have never come here alone in the night. Somebody he knows drag him here and kill him. They really say friends does carry you but don’t bring you back,” an emotional female relative, who asked not to be named, said.
According to reports, Jack left home around 7 pm on Sunday to go and lime with friends.
He did not return home and did not answer several calls to his cellphone, his relatives said. His body was found around 9 pm by a maintenance worker at the facility, who contacted police.
Crime scene investigators who processed the scene believed Jack was shot behind the head while talking to someone in front of him. A post-mortem will be performed on his body at the Forensic Science Centre, St James, today.
Describing Jack as loving, kind and gentle, his relatives claimed they could think of no reason for his execution.
“People does think as you get shoot is because you in a gang but my brother never shoot or rob anybody. He was real peaceful,” a woman, who only identified herself as his sister, said.
However, male relatives on the scene swore to take vengeance on Jack’s attackers.
“Don’t worry boy, I swear on my child I will send them to you. Their family go feel the pain we feeling right now,” one man screamed as Jack’s body was being loaded into a hearse by undertakers.
Police were yet to determine a motive for his murder up to late yesterday.
Detectives of the Region Two Homicide Bureau of Investigations are continuing investigations.
